Yoga asanas (postures) are all in Sanskrit which is the oldest language. and from which all other languages are said to be derived from. We feel it is important to learn the Sanskrit names to keep the tradition alive as we honour the ancient practise of yoga. At the end of a class the teacher will say Namaste and you reply the same. This translates as “I bow to thee”. You are therefore saying thank you to the tradition and for the knowledge that has been passed down through all yoga teachers.
