Yoga is the science of living right. It works on all aspects of the individual; physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. It is a way of balancing and harmonising the body mind and emotions. We achieve this through asana (postures) pranayama (breathing exercises) mudra (gestures) shatkarma (cleansing) and meditation.
Here at Yoga For Life we focus on asana practise as this is a practical and familiar starting point.
By warming the body then performing postures whilst working with the breath we can re-align the body, increase flexibility, strength and stamina. This can leads to increased natural energy levels and a more relaxed and focused mind.
You can read as much as you like about yoga but to truly receive its rewards you must practise more than theory.
